UMI Jobs: Seeking Data Researchers

We are currently seeking a talented individual to work within our Data Acquisition group. Broadly defined, this is a multi-disciplinary role that combines elements of GIS, library sciences research and writing. This position holds specific responsibility for sourcing geospatial data for Urban Mapping to use in Mapfluence, its proprietary hosted mapping platform.

Working with the Research Manager, you will perform various activities to identify and harvest custom research to compile proprietary data sets. This is an entry-level position and pays an hourly rate, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time, salaried management role. The primary role of the Data Researcher is to identify new data for inclusion into the Mapfluence on-demand data catalog and work with the Research Manager to acquire data. Depending on the project, this might be done by contacting commercial vendors or public agencies.

Requirements include:

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent

* Disciplined research skills through academic/professional work

* Clear, cogent verbal and written style

* Strong time management skills

* Intermediate to advanced use of GIS and geospatial tools

* Ability to identify problems before they occur

* Exposure to SQL a plus
